MADE at “Sustainable Innovation ‘09″
By Alex | December 23, 2009
The Sustainable Innovation Conference is an annual event organised by Martin Charter and Ros Carruthers of the University for the Creative Arts. This year it was held in a particularly beautiful and splendid venue namely Farnham Castle. The conference was a great success and well attended. It featured many expert speakers discussing various facets of sustainability and progress towards low carbon economies.
It was at this event that the initial findings of the qualitative research into market acceptance and implementation of British Standard 8887-1 ‘Manufacture, Assembly, Disassembly and End-of-Life processes’ was first presented. The pilot study conference paper on MADE was entitled ‘An Investigation into Standards in Sustainable Design and Manufacture’ and has now also been accepted into BURA, the Brunel University Research Archive, as well as the conference proceedings. By following the link above associated with the paper’s title you can download it.
Ros Carruthers is owed an extra thank you for all her help and support throughout the application and peer review process – Thank you Ros, you are a Star!
If you wish, you can send comments on the paper, or anything else to do with sustainable design standards, to the email address shown on the right of the screen.
